The Boys of the NYPD Choir Still Singing Galway Bay

It's Christmas time again.  I'm very sentimental and love the Perry Como/Bing Crosby catalog, but I also think this song is brilliant. (RIP Kristy McColl)

Belgrade's Most Popular Irish Band

I'm not a world traveler. But I hear that no matter where you find yourself, you can have a pint at an Irish bar. With this in mind, I share with you a video I stumbled upon on YouTube. It is by the Orthodox Celts. The description says they are Belgrade's most popular Irish and Celtic band. I can't argue with that, but do wonder how crowded is the Irish music scene in that part of world.

Irish American

Happy Saint Patrick's day! It is a lovely day for a pint. Or two.

Irish Abandon Guinness?

I read with interest an article that notes the decline of Guinness consumption among the younger generation of Irish. It seems the young prefer their wine and cider. What is that country coming to? I knew entry into the European Union would lead to horrors. First, no more punt. Now this!

"Sales are doing well in North America and parts of West Africa -- where the stronger, bottled local version of Guinness has a reputation, perhaps undeserved, for everything from helping prevent malaria to enhancing male sexual prowess."

Perhaps undeserved? I enjoy Guinness. I have never had malaria. I am the father of three boys under the age of four.

Stop me when I am lying!!
