WAKE UP Tribe bats!

Interesting move by the Indians yesterday - they designated Jason Michaels for assignment and brought up Ben Francisco. YEAAAAA!!!!! I must admit the Indians front office is very patient but a move needed to be made. I wonder how much more patient they will be with Travis Hafner. I understand it is hard to admit you gave money to the wrong guy. I too thought last year was a fluke but now that it has spilled over into this year I'm not so sure. I wonder if the shift teams use when he is up to bat has effected him. We need to get a move on it. This happened last year and the Indians got hot at the right time - hopefully the team will snap out of it before we get buried in the basement of the Central Division.

  1. It's always tough to admit that you misjudged talent, and overpayed. The problem with Hafner is that they have him to overpay the next five years....tough to unload him when the rest of the league can see what we see. Maybe this experience will assure that they don't do the same with CC (can anyone say Zito?). The Yankees can afford these kind of mistakes, the Tribe cannot! And what are they getting from Casey Blake for his $6million this year? All of that being said...you still have to pay them, regardless of production (or lack thereof)....if a minor league guy is ready, give him a try.

  2. Isn't it amazing how two wins in Yankee Stadium makes us feel so much better about this club?

  5. we had a choice of friday or saturday's game to go to. After careful deliberation, we opted for the Grady blanket night........got to see Laffe throw 7 strong shutout innings, and the tribe bats came to life!

  6. Watching 1 1/2 games of the Battle of Ohio, the I-71 Showdown, it seems to me the Indians O stink.

Who is supposed to be good?

I remember Hafner being good and Pherahltha and Sizemore and Martinez. Blake is just a dude, Garko is OK and I can't remember anyone else on the Tribe.

But jeeeez, swinging at bad balls, starting an inning with a double and not scoring the guy, Ugh.

The Reds aren't 8 games under .500 bad. Now they're 3 games under after Sat. 3 games under seems about right, so I see them playing win one lose one the rest of the year.

But the Indians? I know I have a verrrrrry small sample size, but they seem to be crap. 1st place crap, but crap.

Kobayashi? What the hell was that? A blown save without getting an out?

It was cool during the broadcast how they mentioned it was a sell-out and standing room only and then mentioned it was B. Phillips bobblehead day.

They Battle of Ohio, the 1-71 Clash used to sell out without dolls.

    Go Reds!!

My blogger ID is still lost.

  7. Casey Blake’s RBI single in the fourth snapped Cleveland’s 0-for-21 streak with runners in scoring position during the series. …

    That according to the AP.

I reckon Cleveland has been getting timely hits since, as their averages suggest, they don't get a lot of them.

Cleveland also had a lot of horrible non-productive at bats with guys on second or third. The Indians didn't move the guy over or score them with ground balls or sac flies.

Guy on second, no outs, you can't whiff. You gotta get the guy to third. Striking out in that situation is what gets the Reds 75 wins a year for the last 9 years.

Cleveland also caught a bad break when Adam Dunn broke out of his season long slump in a big way. When he's hot, he's as good as there is.

    Good luck Indians.
