A note to those in Florida or Arizona

Hello friends -

If you are in Florida or Arizona please do the common courtesy thing and report daily on this blog your sights and seeings at any and all MLB Spring Training facilities. Those of us stuck in the daily wind, ice and snow storms would appreciate a little sunshine sent up north.

Thanks,

Someone who wishes they were in a warmer climate

  1. Andy Marte is not ready for primrtime. He looks overwhelmed in the field! Raffy Betencourt, on the other hand, is in midseason form. Scott Elarton looks like he could steal the last spot in the bullpen. The tribe is off tomorrow, but will report back soon.

  2. Went to Lakeland today to see the Tigers vaunted offense first hand.
We left with the Tigers on the short end of an 8-0 score after 7 innings.....no offense to speak of today. Bonderman was ok, their bullpen was awful. Detroit will need to score runs in bunches this season!

  3. Thanks for the update Brother Drew. The Tigers game was on ESPN yesterday and I saw some of it. It makes me feel better that their pitching stinks. I hope the Red Sox have the same problem.

The way it sounds up North is Andy is going to make the team no matter what because he is out of options. Wedge isn't too happy but they don't want to lose him so it will be interesting to see what happens.

  4. Byrd was giving up shots, wiggling out of jams.....looks like he's ready to go....I wonderf how long he can keep up the smoke and mirrors. Kobayashi has looked good in all the opportunities that we have seen. Did not see the ML outfielders yesterday, as a morning deluge soaked the field, and 3 scrubs were brought up to sacrifice themselves for the cause. I guess that tells them what their status is!

  5. Tribe looked lackluster today at Disney. CC went 6 innings, and finally settled down after 3. Ryan Drese walked 5 featherheads to blow it open. At least we showed patience. Jorge Julio keeps getting people out, and may find a way into the bullpen. Back to WH tomorrow. Off to the dogs (track) tonight.

  6. The Tribe be=attled to a 4-4 tie in 10 innings today. Fausto looked ready to go for the season, and Pronk definitely grooved one way over the right field wall that Mags didn't even move, or turn for.
We'll see Westbrook tomorrow vs Atlanta. I assume, after his fine performance yesterday, that Cliff Lee has the 5th spot locked up.

  7. Jake Westbrook faced 18 batters in 6 hitless innings today, and was really dealing! Jorge Julio, Kobayashi and Raffy Right also had excellent performances against the Braves. I can't say enough about the Tribe pitching.....just hope that they can get a chance to pitch next week, as the weather in CLE looks terrible!
Tomorrow will be bittersweet.....the final game for me in Winter Haven! We're gonna get there early, do the gator walk one last time, and probably shed a tear or two int he 9th inning. Then it will be on to Gary's Oyster Bar to drown our sorrows one last time.

  8. I note of thanks to Brother Drew for his dispatches from Florida.

Hope you saw one last gator and enjoyed an oyster (or 36) for me!
