Stop Me When I Am Lying: What will I read on Sundays?

I just learned of the passing of long time Cleveland scribe, Hal Lebovitz. I have missed his Sunday colum for the past 2 weeks, and now will miss it forever. It was always the 1st thing that I would read on Sundays. Hal always seemed to have the real scoop.

  1. I, too, would read Hal first thing every Sunday. It has been a tradition with Joyce to ask "Was Hal good this week?". Of course, the answer was always "Yes!"

As a mater of fact, on our first date, I wanted to make small talk and learn a little about her interests. So I asked a question I had never asked any woman before. "What is the first thing you read in the Sunday paper?" Without missing a beat she said "Hal Lebovitz". Needless to say, things went well.

We wrote to Hal with the story after we were married. He responded with a very kind hand written note.

    He will be missed.

  2. The News-Herald described Hal best today, calling him the "conscience" of Cleveland sports. No other writer in the area will be able to fill the void.

  3. I am so sad about Hal's passing. Sunday's will never be the same. I will skim the paper and head to ads and coupons.
